 Lesson 1 (1, 2)
I. Objectives:
 * By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
 + use the words and phrases related to the topic Prices of clothes.
 + ask and answer questions about prices of clothes (singular), using
 How much is the ? => It’s  
 - Ss can develop some following competences:
 + Communicative and collaborative competence: act 1
 + Problem-solving competence: act 1, act 3
 + Self-studying and self-control competence: act 2, act 3
 + Problem-solving and creative competence: act 2
 *Language focus: 
 - Vocabulary: T-shirt, scarf, blouse, jacket, skirt, jumper, thousand. 
 - Structure: How much is the ? => It’s 
 - Differentiated teaching:
 + Incomplete Ss: can ask and answer two or three prices of clothes. 
 + Well-completed Ss: can read clothes, ask and answer prices of clothes.
 II. Materials:
 - Teacher’s: books, pictures, flashcards, CD.
 - Students’: books, notebooks, crayons, pens, boards.

IV. Teaching activities:
 Activity 1: Warm up:
 - Game: Matching

 1 + Write the whole sentences on the board.
 + Have Ss repeat the text in the bubbles a few times.
 + Do choral & individual repetition, using the characters’ name as prompts.

 S2: It’s _______.
 + Have Ss practice in pairs. Check as a class. Good Ss will help the below 
average Ss.
 Activity 4: Production
 - Content 3: The Price is Right.
 - Procedure:
 + Tell Ss about the rule of the game. 
 . T divides class into two groups: A, B.
 . T asks and invites a student from each group to answer.
 . Group A or Group B choose and answers well, they’ll get a mark.
 . Which group has more marks that group is a winner.
 + Ss play game to review the structure. 
 Consolidation:
 - Content: Review vocabulary and form.
 + Vocabulary: T-shirt, scarf, blouse, jacket, skirt, jumper, thousand.
 + Form: How much is the ? => It’s 
 - Procedure:
 + ask students to answer the following questions:
 What have you learnt from the lesson today? 
 What are the core values of the lesson? (if the teacher can take from the 
lesson). 
 + Praise some Ss who are hard-working/ active/ good. as well as encourage 
others to try more.

 Homework:
 - Learn by heart the pattern.

 - Content 3: Listen and tick

 - Procedure:
 + Show Ss how to carry out the task & tick the box. 
 + Elicit the prices of clothes.
 + Have Ss repeat them.
 + Play the tape 3 times for Ss to listen. Do the task & check their answers.
 + Get Ss to swap & check their answers before checking as a class.

 - Content 4: Look and write
 Answer key: 2. yellow jumper/ forty thousand dong

 4. green skirt/ seventy thousand dong

 - Procedure:
 + Have Ss read the text in silence.

 + ask and answer questions about prices of clothes (plural), using
 How much are the ? => They’re 
 - Ss can develop some following competences:

 *Language focus: 
 - Vocabulary: - jeans - trousers
 - shoes - sandals
 - Structure: How much are the ? => They’re 
 - Differentiated teaching:
 + Incomplete Ss: can ask and answer two or three prices of clothes. 
 + Well-completed Ss: can read clothes, ask and answer prices of clothes.
 - Trousers and jeans are always in the plural form. They can be used with or 
without a pair of (e.g trousers/ a pair of trousers).
 - Shoes and sandals can be used in the plural or singular form, depending on 
the meaning.
 - When a pair of + (noun) is the subject of a sentence, it is followed by a 
singular verb.

‘trousers, ‘jumpers and ‘jacket.

 - Ss can develop some following competences: 
 + Communicative and collaborative competence: act 1, act 4
 + Problem-solving competence: act 1, act 2, act 3
 + Self-studying and self-control competence: act 2, act 3, act 4
 + Problem-solving and creative competence: act 4
 *Language focus: 
 - Sound: pronounce two-syllable words with the stress on the first syllable: 
 ‘sandals, ‘trousers, ‘jumpers and ‘jacket.
 - Chant: “How much is/ are?”
 - Differentiated teaching:
 + Incomplete Ss: can stress on the first syllable and chant “How much is/ 
 are?”
 + Well-completed Ss: can stress on the first syllable and chant “How much is/ 
 are?” well.
