Period 26
 UNIT 8: IN THE VILLAGE
 Lesson 1 
I. Objectives:
 * By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
 + pronounce the sound of the letter V/v in isolation. 
 + say the words village, van and volleyball.
- Ss can develop some following competences: 
 + Communicative and collaborative competence: act 1, act 2
 + Problem-solving competence: act 2
 + Self-studying and self-control competence: act 2
 + Problem-solving and creative competence: act 2
 *Language focus: 
 + Sound /v/
 + Vocabulary: village, van, volleyball
- Differentiated teaching:
 + Incomplete ss: can pronounce the name of the letter V/v in the words “village, van and 
volleyball”
 + Well-completed ss: can recognize the words in different situations when listening. 
II. Materials:
 -Teacher’s: books, pictures, flashcards, CD.
 -Students’: books, crayons
III. Method:
 -Communicative Language Teaching -Total Physical Response
 -Natural Approach -3Ps
III. Teaching activities:
 Activity 1: Warm up 
 - Matching: What and Where
 Jelly jam juice ox fox box
 Activity 2: 
 -Content 1.Listen and repeat
 a. Teaching the letter X/x
 - Procedure:
 + Have pupils point to the letter V/v (say “Point to the letter “v”). 
 + Explain that the name of the letter V/v is different to its sound (say “Listen. /viː/ /v/”). 
 b.Set the scence: + Have pupils look at the picture again. Ask them to describe the picture. Draw their 
attention to the letter V/v, the village/things, if necessary
 + Get them to point to the letter V/v and say it, saying Point to the letter V/v and say, please! 
 + Let them point to the village in the picture and say the word village as a model, saying 
 Point to the village and say “village”, please! Remind them of the sound of the letter v in the word 
 village.
 + Follow the same procedure with the animals. Go around and correct pronunciation, if 
 necessary 
 + Put pupils into pairs or groups for further practice of Steps 1 to 3. Go around the class to 
 offer help or correct pupils’ pronunciation, if necessary..
 Activity 4: 
 - Fun cornner : Jumbled word 
 Vna = van, voelit = violet, valleyboll = volleyball 
 - Procedure:
 + Divide class into two groups
 + Ask Ss of two groups play game
 + Congratulate the winner
  Consolidation:
 - Content: Review the letter V/v and words (violet, van and vollayball)
 - Procedure:
 + Ask Ss to answer the following questions:
 What have you learnt from the lesson today? 
 What are the core values of the lesson? ( if the teacher can take from the lesson). 
 + Praise some Ss who are hard-working/ active/ good. as well as encourage others 
 to try more.
 + Give feedback 
  Homework:
 - Learn by heart the words: jam, jelly, juice - Procedure:
 + Draw pupils’ attention to the first verse and explain its meaning. Ask them to pay attention to 
 the letter V/v and the words village, van, volleyball. Check comprehension
 + Play the recording of the first verse for pupils to listen and to get familiarized with the 
rhythm, Then play the recording for them to listen and repeat until they feel confident.
 + Follow the same procedure with the second and third verse. Correct pronunciation, if 
necessary
 + Play the recording all the way through. Ask pupils to listen and repeat the chant 
individually and in chorus.
 Select some pupils to the front of the class to chant and clap their hands. The rest of the class 
may sing the chant and clap their hands along. If they sing the chant well, praise them, saying Great 
work!
 Activity 3: 
 -Content 4: Listen and circle 
 - Procedure:
 + Have pupils look at the pictures and Draw pupils’ attention to the letters a and b. Check 
comprehension. Invite some pupils to point to the pictures in Question 1 and say the words in front of 
the class
 + Play the recording and allow pupils time to complete the activity (say “Listen and 
circle.”).
 + Play the recording again, if necessary (say “Listen again.”). Week 15
Period 28
 UNIT 8: IN THE VILLAGE 
 Lesson 3
I. Objectives:
 * By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
 - use “Can you draw a ____?” “ Yes, I can. / No, I can’t.” to identify someone’s ability. 
 - sing a song with the structure “Can you draw a ____?”
 - Ss can develop some following competences: 
 + Communicative and collaborative competence: act 6, act 7, act 8
 + Problem-solving competence: act 7
 + Self-studying and self-control competence: act 7, act 8
 + Problem-solving and creative competence: act 7
 *Language focus: 
 - Can you draw a ____?
 - Differentiated teaching:
 + Incomplete Ss: can use the sentence structures 
 “Can you draw a ? Yes, I can/ No, I can’t”
 + Well-completed Ss: can use the sentence structures 
 “Can you draw a ? Yes, I can/ No, I can’t”
 Replaces some phrases they’ve studied
 II. Materials:
 -Teacher’s: books, pictures, flashcards, CD.
 -Students’: books, crayons
III. Method:

III. Teaching activities:
 Activity 1: Warm up 
 - Board race. (groups work)
 Write the words with the letter begin with “J and V”
 Juice Jam Jelly van village volleyball
 Activity 2: 
 -Content 6: Listen and repeat -Content 8: Let’s sing
 - Procedure:
 + Have pupils look at the lyrics to get familiarized with the first verse of the song. Explain the 
meaning of the sentence. Play the recording several times for pupils to repeat line after line to make 
sure that they can sing the verse correctly. Check comprehension.
 + Follow the same procedure with the second and third verses. Correct pronunciation and the 
melody of the song, if necessary.
 + Have pupils listen to the whole song, drawing their attention to the pronunciation, the stress 
and the melody of the song. Say Now listen to the whole song. 
 + Let pupils practice singing the song. Help them sing the song sentence by sentence first. Then 
help them to sing the whole song. If there is time, let them sing the song several times until they feel 
confident
 + Select some groups to the front of the class to sing the song or ask some pupils to sing the song 
individually. The class may sing along and clap their hands. Praise them when they performed well,
  Consolidation:
 - Content: Have pupils do Activity 6, Unit 8 in their workbooks.
 - Procedure:
 + ask students to answer the following questions:
 What have you learnt from the lesson today? 
 What are the core values of the lesson? ( if the teacher can take from the lesson). 
 + Praise some ss who are hard-working/ active/ good. as well as encourage others to try 
more.
 + Give feedback 
  Homework:
 Review the structures and the song
